General FAQs

Do I have direct access to a mentor?

You have direct access to a mentor at all times during SGI business hours, Monday to Friday 9:00 to 5:00 pm. If you need assistance during after business hours, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help you.

How long is the course?

Students have 12 months to complete their course – click here to check the duration of our courses. You receive access to all of your units at the start of your course, so you can complete them at a pace that suits you best.

Student visa work restrictions?

From 1 July 2023, the number of work hours allowed during study terms and semesters will be capped at 48 hours per fortnight. If you fail to comply with this visa condition, you may have your student visa cancelled.

Students who have already started their Master degree by research or Doctoral degree have no work hours limit.

Students already working in the aged care sector on 9 May 2023 can continue to work unlimited hours in the aged care sector until 31 December 2023.
